"... right." Cloud hefted the snowboard and glanced over his shoulder at the slope. "I guess I'll check things out first, and call you all when it's clear."

Tifa shuddered convulsively and rubbed her arms. She was still frozen, after throwing on two layers and ditching mobility for a pair of heavy, padded boots. She stomped in place in a vain effort to warm up. "Are you sure?" She eyed the snow doubtfully. "I mean, if you run into trouble on the way-- if he's down there--"

"Don't worry about it," he said softly, pulling his sunglasses down far enough to look her in the eye. "Just be ready to get everyone down there when I check in. Okay?"

She looked away, sighing, and nodded. Right. Okay. Cloud had a weapon - probably had several, as a matter of fact, newly sharpened and fully equipped with materia. Whatever discrepencies there were in his account of Nibelheim, he had since proven he was more than capable of taking care of himself and, at times, everyone else. She could imagine him in SOLDIER. Hell, she could imagine him beating up an entire regiment of them.

She heard him turn around and said quickly, "Take care, okay?"

He didn't answer, but when she risked a glance, he was looking back at her. She waved, sure it made a pitiful picture for the others, and he kicked off, disappearing down the slope.

Someone fit a coat over her shoulders and she jumped. It smelled of stale cigarette smoke, so it was Cid she had to thank; better than being cold, and she'd known worse just from working at Seventh Heaven. "Thanks."

Cid nodded and took a long drag from his cigarette, staring after Cloud. "What. The. Fuck." And he looked at her, as if she had the answer to everything.

"What?"

He spit the cigarette out. "This isn't the fucking Junon Games. What're we supposed to do when he's out there fucking around with his new snowboard?"

Tifa shrugged and turned to go back into town. "Rent a snowmobile, I guess. C'mon, let's get going."

Fantastic. I've always had plausibility issues with the snowboarding minigame, primarily because I hate it.

Am Memming liek whoa.

I didn't like that FF7 required me to play it - mandatory minigames are a pain in the ass. But the snowboard game itself was actually kind of fun when you had a choice. I think my friend and I played more of that than the actual game. (Sad, I know.)

But yeah, the plausibility is just not there. :p I mean, let's just announce our location by frolicking in the snow! =D Thinking in-game, Cloud would have to be stupid to do that, and while I would have advocated that idea strongly back in the day, things are a little different now.

And that is an awesome icon.
