Now that he wasn't trying to kill her, Sesshomaru's true form gave Kagome a completely different sort of chill - the kind that skittered over your skin and raised goosebumps in its wake. The kind that sprang up when his youki flared and played with her aura at night, when they discussed this and that and managed to disagree on tiny, stupid things just to prolong the moment.
The kind that had her approaching without a thought to how dangerous he was, that he could crush her like she could an acorn beneath her shoe with one of his enormous ivory paws.
Kagome reached out and ran both hands over the bony part of his paw until it ended in a claw the size of an elephant tusk. She felt the ridges of the bones, so delicate compared to his massive shape, as thick around as her waist.
Sesshomaru settled down and the wind of his motion tugged at her hakama. Then he turned his paw over and let her explore the way his claws arched out from the pads. Like Buyo's paws, when he stretched his toes, the bones and skin formed a perfect, symmetrical fan.
His lazy gaze, the rumble that was almost a purr, reminded her of Buyo too. Kagome smiled and snuggled into the curve of his leg, watching his crimson eye hood and glow like a sunset in contentment.

Someday, I'll write an entry that's obviously romantic. As it is, I'm afraid to kneecap canon too hard. (I mean, harder than I already am by loving this pairing so much and not knowing as much as I should.)
