Disclaimer: Fire Emblem is copyrighted by Intelligent Systems and Nintendo. I'm not getting any money out of this, just satisfaction~

Notes: I tried to give it a plot at first, but that's not what this is. It's much better as a series of images. Set after Map the Stars and Yours to Command, so: ten years after Radiant Dawn.

Marigolds dotted the meadow by the lake shore Lehran found Sanaki kneeling on weeks ago. The water was deep blue, gray, reflecting the color of the rocky slope into the depth, and the surface mirrored the pale blue sky. Her arm wrapped around his, her fingers stroked his sleeve; he let her go ahead of him and stretched his wings to their full length to catch the breeze. The sun had made half its descent to the west, shining just above the forest treetops and casting their shadows into the grass. He picked blackberries from their vines while Sanaki gathered marigold flowers, holding them in a bunch by the stems until she was holding a sunburst of yellow blossoms to brighten the mellow green of her dress.

There were many colors and types of fabric in his chests, waiting to be used; of all the artisan skills he'd learned in the distant past to care for himself and his family, he was most deft at weaving, color and dyes, and stitching. Herons didn't care for the gender connotations of those skills outside the forest, but he'd been teased endlessly since moving back to Serenes - usually by Naesala, whose skill in craft was abysmal in every way. Leanne knew plants and herbs and flavors, Reyson worked fine skeins of silver and gold; Rafiel was the only one left to share these skills with him.

Sanaki chose green when he opened the boxes, and gold clasps; he made the dress while she slept, her indigo hair fanned on the mattress and her arm slung across his waist while he sat with his back to the wall and cut, the skirt and bodice in single pieces, and stitched. He used most of the bolt, and the skirt swirled around her legs when she walked, the train heavy over the grass, and flattened against her shape when the direction of the breeze changed. A gold chain belt rested on the wide curve of her hips, glinted in the sun. He remembered finding it half-buried beneath a tree where its owner had fallen, a matching bracelet nearby.

It fit her well, clinging to her shape in the right places and sweeping wide around her feet. If she were to sprout wings, Sanaki would look every inch a woman of his tribe. Perhaps it was her thin frame, or the cut of the dress - he knew the make of no other style, couldn't have guessed at the complicated patterns that made the gowns and robes of the Begnion nobility. The simplicity suited her, complimenting her beauty in a way the large, flowing folds of her ceremonial robes never would.

Long sleeves billowed from her elbows, and her hair danced. Lehran gave up on the blackberries and spread his wings to glide across the clearing.

Sanaki picked another blossom and added it to her bunch, straightening and smiling in greeting. "Do you think this is enough for--"

He leaned in and captured her lips, dropping his sack of blackberries to wrap his arms around her waist and pull her tight against his body. Her arms curved up around his neck with the bunch of flowers, her hair tangled around his fingers, and the sharp strength of the marigold scent forced him to release the kiss sooner than he would have liked. He hated marigolds, and murmured something to that effect under his breath.

She settled back on her feet and looked up at him, lips darker, fuller than a moment ago. "What brought that on?"

"Nothing in particular." He turned his head slightly to look at the yellow blossoms drooping over his shoulder. "I think this is more than enough."

Sanaki laughed softly and pulled her arm back, let the flowers hang at her side where they wouldn't suffocate him. "Then I'll help you - unless you've finished."

Lehran smoothed the dress over her hips, fingers lingering on the chain belt, then knelt to retrieve the muslin bag of berries. "No, not yet." He curved his arm at her waist again and led her toward the trees. "Your help is always welcome."

.

As she fled fast thro' sun and shade,
The happy winds upon her play'd,
Blowing the ringlet from the braid.
She look'd so lovely, as she sway'd
The rein with dainty finger-tips,
A man had given all other bliss,
And all his worldly worth for this,
To waste his whole heart in one kiss
Upon her perfect lips.

It amuses me to no end to make Lehran the feminine domestic half of this relationship.

I axed about 200 words that didn't work out for me. Technically that's editing, but I'm ignoring most of Nano's rules anyway, so.

Lehran is totally the girl in the relationship. Sanaki is the one who's doing the demanding (for sex and otherwise)

But awww, pretty peaceful afterwards! Cuuuute.

(Also you're really kicking my ass in these! I haven't even figured out which one to take for 30k, and now you're up to what, 7? 8? XD)

Sephiran kneeling before Sanaki is the image I carry with me in all of these fics. Even when he initiates, she still tops. XD

The Tennyson poem was echoing in my head until I sat down to write this. I still can't make it be quiet, but at least my brain is somewhat satisfied to see it in print.

(REVENGE. No, uh. I think only five? Though it'll be six soon. I've been doing these shorts because Elysium is kicking my ass, and I can't decide what to do with it.)
